We’re learning more details about a newborn baby found safe after an Amber Alert that went out Tuesday.
The mother told hospital staff in Lebanon she’d given birth to the child on the side of the road, two men pulled over to help during labor, but then one of them took the baby.
But now the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office thinks one of those men was the father.
Laclede County Sheriff David Milsap tell KRMS News that relative then took the baby to Webster County to another relative, which is where the baby was found.
Milsap says both the mother and the father have outstanding warrants, which may have led to the decision not to take the baby to the hospital.
The baby is safe and now in protective custody.
