A few new signs at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park have people asking questions. Many people have fished along the docks at Public Beach #2 and, recently, they’ve noticed new “no fishing” signs posted in their old spot. Steph Deidrick with the Missouri State Parks says that prior to 2015 fishing at all boat rental slips was not permitted and, after a change in marina management in 2015, there were inconsistencies in the policy. Over the course of the last month, the state park system has worked with park management to clarify those policies and ensure that the signs were posted. She says the no fishing policy is in place for both safety and security concerns and all park visitors may fish from the deck at the marina store.
