A mentoring program pairing high school students with community members is off to a good start at School of the Osage. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Laura Nelson says they’re midway through the eight-week program.
So far, the feedback has been positive. Administrators check in with the kids and mentors every week to tweak the program. The goal of NextGen mentoring is to pair freshmen with people who share similar interests and help them find a career path. Nelson says they not only expect to continue the program, they hope to grow it as well.
The pilot program began with a kickoff breakfast February 15th.
