Despite much better weather across most of the state, this year’s Christmas holiday period was still deadlier than 2017’s. The Highway Patrol reports that nine people died in traffic accidents between 6pm Friday night and 11:59 Tuesday night. That’s an increase of two fatalities over last year. The number of crashes investigated by the Patrol was way down, though. This year they handled 294 crashes with 80 injuries. In 2017, they investigated 491 accidents with 125 injuries. The Highway Patrol also made 106 arrests for DWI during the holiday counting period.
