Governor Jay Nixon has released $143 million dollars of education funding that he had previously frozen. The move comes after lawmakers sustained most of his vetoes of bills that would have granted tax breaks to various businesses such as electric companies, computer data centers and fitness clubs. The Governor says he is also evaluating whether to release any of the additional $700 million dollars of spending that he has restricted due to concerns over state finances.
