Few members of the general public showed up Monday for the Missouri Transportation department forum at Camdenton High School. The one on one event was to give the public a chance to talk with MoDOT representatives about the agency’s plan to cut over half a billion from their budget by laying off half their employees, shutting down facilities and selling off some of their equipment. No road projects in the Lake Area are being affected by the cutbacks since all those currently under way or scheduled to begin within the next two or three years are already funded. If the cutbacks are approved, the Miller County maintenance shed on Missouri 42 in Osage Beach, the Camden County shed in Montreal and the Morgan County shed in Stover will be closed permanently within the next three years.
