There is no decision yet on a planning and zoning request involving a proposed parking lot for Shady Gators. At the meeting on Wednesday night, the Camden County Planning and Zoning Commission agreed to continue the case until their next meeting on December 18th. Gary Prewitt had requested to take back a previous application for 28 acres of land on the north side of Bittersweet Road between Anemone Road and Primrose Road. The land would go from not being zoned to being zoned in the county. The parcel was overlooked in the Camden County zoning process. A parking lot would be built on part of the land to help with the many people who go to Shady Gators during the season. The planning and zoning commission received letters and comments that were for and against the zoning request. At the end of the meeting, Commission Chairman Jerry Carroll requested a special closed meeting with Presiding Commissioner Kris Franken. The purpose of the meeting would be to discuss why the planning and zoning commission was not told of Administrator Don Hathaway’s recent two week unpaid leave. That meeting will happen on Tuesday, December 3rd at 5:30 in the evening.
