It is the end of the line for a company’s attempt to receive a rezoning request from officials in Camden County. At their meeting on Friday, the Camden County Commissioners voted three to nothing on the request from Magruder Limestone and Paving. The company wanted to expand their operations at the quarry at Tree Lane and Highway 5 in Sunrise Beach. Residents and business owners in the area were against the expansion because of what they called health risks and also a decrease to their property values. The rezoning request had also been turned down by the Sunrise Beach Board of Trustees, and the Planning and Zoning Commission for both Sunrise Beach and also Camden County.
