A fire on a boat became at least the fifth incident on the water during the Memorial Day holiday period. It was reported just before 3:30 Monday afternoon at the 23 mile mark of the main channel. According to the water patrol, the alarm sounded on the boat, prompting the driver to check the motor. When he did, he saw open flames. He was able to use a fire extinguisher to put the fire out before any injuries could occur. Damages were described as moderate and the boat was towed to the owner’s dock.
