The November election is just two weeks away and Lake Area residents will weigh in on several issues. Voters will decide whether to amend the State Constitution in regards to sex crime prosecution, early voting and Governor Nixon’s budget recommendations. However, Amendment three seems to be the issue gaining the most interest. Missouri could become the first state to tie student learning to teacher evaluations in its State Constitution. The measure would require a majority of teachers’ evaluation scores be based on student performance. The group sponsoring the initiative recently announced it won’t be campaigning for the Amendment after public opinion polling showed a lack of support.
