The NTSB is releasing preliminary findings on a plane crash that killed two people near Osage Beach in August.

The agency says a commercial pilot and a passenger were killed when a private plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

The report says witnesses watched the pilot ‘flooding the engine’ before takeoff and black smoke was seen as the plane taxied.

The reports says black smoke continued after takeoff and witnesses say the engine didn’t sound normal.

It’s confirmed the pilot radioed in to say he was coming back to the airport, but the plane didn’t make it back to the runway.

The post-impact fire engulfed the wreckage and the investigation continues.
