The National Transportation Safety Board says partial blame for last year’s fatal duck boat accident in Branson lies with the Coast Guard. In a Safety Recommendation Report issued this week, the NTSB says the Coast Guard has ignored suggestions that could have made the boats safer. The safety recommendations were first issued following the deaths of 13 people in a duck boat accident in Arkansas in 1999. The safety report found that a fixed canopy and closed side curtain impeded passenger escape. Those were two of the items addressed in the previously issued recommendations.
