A huge wildfire sparked when a combine caught fire in a field in Cooper County went on to damage or destroy 23 structures in the town of Wooldridge on Saturday afternoon.
That’s the word from fire officials at a Sunday news conference about the wind-driven blaze.
The fire burned more than 3000 acres before fire crews from across mid-Missouri contained it and firefighters remain on watch for flare-ups.
Representing the lake area as part of the statewide call for mutual aid in the Wooldridge area are: the Mid-County, Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, Eldon, Rocky Mount, Sunrise Beach, Gravois and Versailles Rural districts. Officials say at least 10 people were displaced by the fire.
No firefighters were injured but one civilian received minor burns.
Other fires burned hundreds of acres in Pulaski and Phelps Counties as well.
