NWS Issues Winter Storm Warning Ahead Of Potential Ice Storm

The National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Lake Area.

Officials say we can expect heavy mixed precipitation with snow accumulations up to an inch and ice accumulations of a quarter to four tenths of an inch.

The warning starts at 9PM this evening and last until 3PM on Friday.

The Weather Service warns there could be disruptions in area roadways and possible power outages.

CST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of a
  quarter to four tenths of an inch.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central
  and west central Missouri.

* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Some power outages and tree damage are possible due to
  the ice and strong winds. Travel may become very difficult. The
  hazardous conditions could impact holiday travel.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency and make sure you begin your
travel with a full tank of gas.
