The Hollywood style Lake of the Ozarks sign will be discussed in future budget talks in the city of Osage Beach. Representatives of the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce pitched the sign idea to the board of aldermen last night, asking for a $5,000 contribution towards the roughly $88,000 project. Board President Steve Kahrs made a motion to approve the funds but it died for a lack of a second. Joe Roeger, the chamber’s area beautification committee chairman, says the chamber will continue fundraising efforts for what they call an iconic symbol.
The sign would have eight foot by four foot letters spanning 87 feet on the eastern hill between the beginning of the 54 Expressway and the access to the Osage Beach Parkway. Lights and a 40 foot flagpole with an American flag would compliment the lettering.
