One person is facing charges after a traffic stop in Lake Ozark early Thursday morning. The Highway Patrol says they initiated a stop for speeding on Bagnell Dam Boulevard at around 1:30am. During the stop, the officer observed that the passenger in the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and had watery and bloodshot eyes. During the stop, the passenger, identified as 55-year old Gary Prewitt, exited the vehicle and refused officers’ commands to get back in. Lake Ozark Police were called for back up. After again exiting the vehicle and cursing at officers, Prewitt allegedly pushed an officer away in an effort to resist. A scuffle broke out, with Prewitt allegedly throwing punches and striking an officer in the head. Prewitt is facing three charges – two counts of fourth degree assault, including a special victim specification – and a seat belt violation.
