One person is dead after a crash in the Lake Area Monday.

Police in Osage Beach were called to the wreck on westbound Highway 54 and Passover Road before 1 pm.

Investigators say 68-year-old John Niemeyer of Four Seasons, lost control of his Ford Pickup and hit a rock bluff on the right side of the road.

Niemeyer was pronounced dead at the scene and two other passengers were rushed to Lake Regional Hospital.

Numerous other crashes occurred throughout the area, including wrecks that had the Hurricane Deck Bridge and HWY 42 blocked for several hours.

One person is dead following numerous accidents across the Lake of the Ozarks Monday afternoon as roads went from partly covered, to icy.

According to the Osage Beach Police Department, one of the accidents took place near US 54 and Passover Road.

Investigators say officers responded to a one-vehicle crash involving a truck, in which the driver was killed when the truck left the roadway and smashed into the bluff.

Two others in the truck were injured and taken to the hospital.

During that time, numerous other vehicles began sliding off the road where the officers were on scene.

Additional crashes were reported to the KRMS News room, including a vehicle that had crashed on the Hurricane Deck Bridge and another that crashed on HWY 42, causing only one lane of traffic to get through at the time.
