Operation Care, or Combined Accident Reduction Effort, is in effect this weekend with special emphasis being focused on taking impaired drivers off the roadway. Troopers will also be enforcing speed limits and seat belt use along with assisting motorists when needed. Last year alone in Missouri, there were 13 people killed and 627 others injured in more than 18-hundred traffic crashes…one person killed or injured every 9.6 minutes over the same holiday weekend. The official counting period began 6-pm on Wednesday and will come to an end at 11:59 Sunday night. Motorists needing help or wanting to report a traffic crash or any other emergencies or crimes should call star-55 from a cell phone.
