Several items were voted on during Thursday’s meeting of the Osage Beach Board of Alderman. A bill was approved authorizing the Mayor to sign a contract for Berkley Insurance as a surety to J.C. Industries. The contract will insure that phase 3 of the sidewalk improvement plan is completed. J.C. Industries is in default and financially unable to complete the original contract. The city has called upon the Surety to fulfill its obligations. The project is expected to come in $27,000 under budget. In other business, the Board voted to amend the original ordinance regarding taxi cabs. Initially ALL lettering on a taxi was to be 6 inches tall. However, with limited space, the amendment requires only that the word TAXI be 6 inches in height. A number of appointments were made to boards and committees, authorization was given for storm drain improvements and the Board tabled discussion on the proposed artwork for the Swiss Village Water Tower.
