The Osage Beach Board of Alderman were divided on where new banner signs for the Osage Beach Parkway should be purchased from. There were two bids presented to the board on Thursday (17) night – one from Street Décor out of Reno, Nevada, the other from Smart Postal Center, a local Osage Beach business. Assistant City Administrator Mike Welty presented the information, saying that these two businesses out of eleven, only priced the bid with the city’s set specifications. However, the lower bid came from Street Décor, an out of town business – so low in fact, that the quantity requested went from 90 signs up to 130 signs with brackets. Alderman Tom Walker was concerned about the alleged location of the business – in a reported bungalow in a residential neighborhood in Reno. Upon a search of Google Maps, K-R-M-S (93-Five Rocks) News did indeed discover the address in question is in the middle of a large residential area. Following much discussion, more members were impressed with the lower price of the banners reported by Street Décor – over 23-thousand-dollars – over the price quoted by Smart Postal Center, which was 24-thousand-750-dollars for 90 banners. The banners are expected to be installed by Memorial Day weekend…
