A prescription drug monitoring program is now a reality in Osage Beach. The Board of Aldermen approved the PDMP by a 4-2 vote Thursday night. Aldermen Jeff Betherum says it won’t take long for the program to begin.
Pharmacies filling prescriptions will be responsible for updating a computer database weekly with information including the patient’s name, the medication and amount prescribed, and the doctor who prescribed it. Supporters believe the program will cut down on overprescribing and assist in the fight against the opioid epidemic.
