There should have been no fireworks in Osage Beach, this weekend. The issue of fireworks caused fireworks at the last Osage Beach Board of Aldermen meeting. There was a proposal on the table that would have amended the city’s fireworks policy and allowed residents to set off fireworks on their property on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and New Year’s Eve, if they got a permit from the city and showed proof of a one million dollar bond or insurance policy to cover any damages. Alderman Steve Kahrs had drawn up the ordinance. The Board vote ended tied, and Mayor Penny Lyons voted against. Kahrs said he was furious at the outcome.
