Open burning guidelines top the discussion for Thursday night’s Osage Beach Board of Aldermen meeting. The board will discuss a proposed ordinance regulating open burning with the city. The plan would restrict fires to the hours between sunrise and sunset, requiring that the fire be fully extinguished before sunset. The fires must be attended at all times and you must have a water hose and other equipment on hand to control the flames. Fires will also be limited to six feet in diameter and two feet in height, with a minimum distance of 25 feet from any other structure including fences. The draft does contain some exemptions, which include campfires, recreational, and cooking fires as long they are 25 feet from a fence or other structure. The board meets Thursday at 6pm.
