The US Census data for Osage Beach and the lake area has been released and it shows positive growth in population. The outlook for unemployment however was far lower and shows a significant increase as well. The population increased from 3,662 in 2000 to 4,351 in 2010. This is a 19 percent increase in growth which is slightly higher then the total growth of Camden County, around 16.5 %.
The employment rate was high accounting a very low 3.8 percent unemployment which is much lower than the state as well as other towns in the lake area. During that same time Camdenton had an unemployment rate of 8.2 percent, Morgan County had an 11.5 percent unemployment rate. The population of people who live in Osage Beach who are from other states is 45% showing a large retirement community and hospitality and tourism industry.
