The Osage Beach Fire District will soon be able to upgrade some equipment considered critical to firefighter safety and at a minimal cost to the district. Chief Jeff Dorhauer says the district recently received notice of a grant approved by FEMA covering 301-thousand of the total $316-thousand cost to purchase several self contained breathing apparatus. A committee was formed months ago to start a research phase for the purchase of the aging equipment whether the grant was approved or not. The fire district now has one year to complete the research, write up bid requirements and award a contract for the purchase.
