The city awarded a $151,000 bid for street lights to James H. Drew Corporation last Thursday.
City Engineer Nick Edelman says the lights will cover the newly named Osage Beach Parkway South from Highway 42 to Wal-Mart.
“It’s basically from Highway 42 over the new portion of the one way couple. It’s the new pavement, the new bridge. Currently Bluff Drive is being detoured through that area. That’s the area that’s roughly where they’re talking about,” said Edelman.
Work on the lights should begin in about a month.
Osage Beach is also wrapping up its recent sidewalk additions. Edelman says the goal was to have sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks from the city park just east of the outlet mall all the way to the Grand Glaize Bridge.
“It is complete. The only thing that’s missing is some final paperwork documents and that kind of stuff submitted to MoDOT. But other than that, the city was issued the final acceptance. The contractor is done with all the actual construction work so the projects is in use.”
“I know I’ve seen a few people out there walking so it’s nice to see the public getting to enjoy the project.”
Several of the crosswalks provide push buttons for pedestrians traveling along the busy highway.
