A proposal for a use tax is scheduled for first-reading at the Osage Beach Board of Aldermen meeting Thursday night. Osage Beach may not be the only community voting on the issue. It’s being discussed in Camdenton and Lake Ozark as well, although no one has decided for sure when they’ll take it to voters.
City Administrator Jeana Woods says the use tax applies to purchases made online through out-of-state merchants. Woods says it’s not a double-tax ….you’ll simply be paying the same amount you’d pay for more localized purchases.
The Osage Beach Board of Alderman is expected to vote on the issue for the first time when they meet Thursday night at 6pm.
