The extension is a go. At last night’s board of Alderman Meeting, the city of Osage Beach agreed to proceed with Modot and build the outer road extending Osage Beach Parkway from Key Largo through the Business Park to Y road. It was a long discussion period between the Alderman and Modot but ultimately it came down to a 3 to 3 tie broken by the Mayor for approval on the project. Mayor Penny Lyons explains why she said yes:
When would the project begin?
As far as when the city will start saving for funding the project, Mayor Penny Lyons explains:
Modot will cover 1/3rd of the cost with a special program from the state covering 1/3 and the city covering the final 1/3. Some of the land owners have already indicated that they will be donating part of their land for the extension to Y road, others are still undecided at this time. Once the outer road is complete, traffic accidents are expected to drop by 40% in that area and the city will be able to annex the road into the city limits along with providing city sewer systems as well.
The board also approved other items on the agenda including building a new storage facility for the city’s Christmas decorations and making additional repairs to the Lee C Fine airport.
