One Lake Area city may soon be taking aim at passing an ordinance raising the legal age from 18 to 21 to purchase tobacco and alternate nicotine products. The discussion, in Osage Beach, was first brought up in May with the issues of health and safety versus businesses losing potential income. City Administrator Jeana Woods says the question stalled at that point but has been brought back to the table for further consideration.
The proposed ordinance is on the agenda for the board of aldermen meeting Thursday night (Sept. 7) with no action expected to be taken by the board. The floor will be open, however, for individuals or business owners wanting to offer their opinions during the public comment portion of the meeting. The Osage Beach Board of Aldermen meeting, in city hall, begins at 6:00.
