Last week, a proposal was brought up at the Osage Beach Board of Aldermen meeting to change the tobacco age from 18 to 21. The board unanimously agreed that an ordinance would be worth looking at. Since then, it’s brought up a number of concerns, possibly the biggest being that the age in Lake Ozark would still be 18. City Administrator Dave Van Dee says that, as of right now, there are no plans for that to change.
Many people are concerned that, because it’s so close, raising the age in Osage Beach would just cause those under 21 to drive to Lake Ozark, which would also be taking money out of their city.
