The head of the Camden County Emergency Management Agency John Page is stepping down as the Director after his budget was cut by 30%, according to Page. The new Camden County Budget recently passed by Commissioners is suppose to be a leaner and tighter budget than in years past, but a cut into the EMA office has made it nearly impossible to manage. John Page told KRMS news that he asked for the same budget as last year and no increases but instead was given a 30% cut, to which he says there’s no room to cut. Page says about 50% of the money that runs the small EMA for the County was matching Grants and with the cuts, many of the grants could also be cut. At this time former Fire Chief Ron Gentry has been selected to take the role and Page is still on board until then. Page says if the county were to give the 30% back to his budget, he would remain in charge.
