A petition is being circulated requesting the state auditor’s office conduct a separate investigation into the case of an employee being investigated by police for embezzling money from the Camdenton school district. Former district parent Nancy Steward is heading up the petition effort. She says the reason she wants a separate audit is because the investigation currently being conducted only goes back a few years and the employee is thought to have worked at the school for at least 12 years. Steward alleges the district has not been forthcoming about where the money came from and is also considering a petition to ask the state to audit the entire school district’s finances. According to school superintendent Tim Hadfield, an official audit has just been completed by independent auditors. Camdenton Police Chief Laura Wright also says they hope to have charges against the employee referred soon.
