State park officials say the wastewater treatment plant at Public Beach 1 in Lake of the Ozarks State Park could not have contributed to elevated levels of E. coli found in water samples last summer. The beach closed three times last summer, but State Park Director Bill Bryan says there was no correlation between sample results at the beach and those at the wastewater treatment plant outfall. The treatment plant underwent an overhaul last year and will be monitored closely throughout the season, with the first round of testing before the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
