Public beach number one and two in Lake of the Ozarks State Park are open.
Public beach number two has been closed since the weekend due to high e coli test results two Mondays ago. This past Monday testing at the state park beaches was completed and both of the local state park beaches came back clean. Looking at beaches statewide for those that may be traveling this weekend, Watkins Wollen Mill State Park beach northeast of Kansas City will be closed this weekend due to high e coli. And Hermitage beach in Pomme De Terre State Park southwest of the lake area and Wakonda State Park beach near Hannibal are both closed. Their tests this week were below the single sample safety standard for e coli, however the geometric mean for either state parks, or the average, has creeped above the acceptable standard so they are closed.
