One weekend down, four more to go…Anthony Piercy started his ten days of shock time in jail this past weekend in Morgan County. Piercy, the highway patrol trooper convicted of negligent boating in the 2014 drowning of 20-year-old Brandon Ellingson from Iowa, was sentenced last week to the shock time over the course of five weekends…a sentence Ellingson’s father, Craig Ellingson, says does not serve justice.
Along with the shock time, Piercy also received a 180-day suspended sentence, two years of supervised probation and community service. Piercy had originally been charged with involuntary manslaughter before entering a guilty plea on the amended charge. At least for the current time, Piercy is allowed to keep his license as a law enforcement officer. The Ellingson family, however, indicates that they will take aim at trying to get that license stripped away from Piercy.
