A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper charged in the death of an Iowa man will learn his fate later this month. Anthony Piercy was originally charged with involuntary manslaughter in the drowning of 20-year old Brandon Ellingson. He entered a negotiated plea of guilty to a reduced charge of negligent boating. He faces a maximum sentence of six months incarceration and/or a fine of up to $500. Piercy reserves the right to revoke the plea if he’s not happy with the sentencing, which was initially scheduled for today but has since been moved to September 19th at 1:00 p.m.
