The high-profile criminal case of a Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper being blamed for the drowning death of a 20-year-old from Iowa will NOT go on as scheduled. The First-Degree Involuntary Manslaughter trial of Anthony Piercy had been on the docket for later this month. Piercy is accused, among other things, of not properly securing a life jacket on Brandon Ellingson while in custody for a BWI before Ellingson went overboard. A motion filed seeking a change of judge was successful and the final pre-trial conference and trial was cancelled. Circuit Judge Stan Moore will now preside over the case. A date has not been set for the case to continue.
