Another delay has occurred for the Highway Patrol trooper charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of an Iowa man. Anthony Piercy faces the involuntary manslaughter charge after Brandon Ellingson drowned while in Piercy’s custody during a 2014 arrest for alleged boating while intoxicated. The case, which was scheduled for Monday, has been postponed until May 1st of next year. This is one of a number of charges involving the case, as former trooper Randy Henry filed a federal suit earlier in the month claiming the Patrol constructively discharged him for exercising his 1st amendment rights. The retired Sergeant spoke out against Piercy in the case, saying he was negligent, causing the man’s death.
