The pre-trial and jury trial dates for the Highway Patrol trooper charged in the May, 2014, drowning death of a 20-year-old from Iowa have been cancelled, at least for the time being. Anthony Piercy is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter for the alleged way in which he handled the incident in which Brandon Ellingson ended up overboard in a life jacket not properly secured. The case is now being heard on a change of venue in Morgan County. A jury trial had been scheduled to begin last week but was cancelled after a request to change judges was approved. The case, with Circuit Judge Stan Moore now presiding, will next be in the courtroom on November 7th to reset the pre-trial and actual jury trial dates.
