An appeals court has once again ruled in favor of former State Trooper Anthony Piercy. The Western District Court of Appeals says former Highway Patrol Superintendent Sandra Karsten overstepped her authority when she fired Piercy in December of 2017. An internal board review recommended that Piercy be returned to active duty and transferred out of the Troop F coverage region. Tuesday’s ruling upholds a previous decision made by a lower court, but does not return Piercy to work. He had his license revoked for a second time by the Department of Public Safety. That ruling is also under appeal and will be heard next month.
