Several residents across the Ozarks will be leaving (have left) their porch lights on overnight in memory of a young girl taken one year ago this Wednesday. The nationwide movement called “Porch lights for Hailey” was started by an area mother wanting to show support for the Owens family who’s daughter Hailey Owens was kidnapped and murdered while walking in her own neighborhood. Last year she organized a candlelight vigil in her name, this year she’s reaching out through Facebook and other sources to get the word out about the Porch lighting for a little girl who didn’t need to die. Residents are also recommended to wear purple and pink, which where her favorite colors. Owen’s kidnapper Craig Wood was arrested and is awaiting his time in court something this year.
