The prosecution and defense have both rested their cases in the Clarence Porter domestic assault trial in Camden County. On the final day of testimony, jurors heard from the law enforcement officer that responded to the scene December 5th of 2016. Also testifying was the neighbor to whose trailer the victim fled to escape the assault. He told of holding the defendant at gunpoint to get him to leave. The emergency room nurse and doctor testified to the extent of the victim’s injuries, which included busted capillaries causing bleeding in the eyes, traumatic brain injury including three separate brain bleeds, and extensive bruises, cuts, and abrasions. The injuries were so severe the victim had to be transferred a level one trauma center at the University of Missouri hospital in Columbia. Closing arguments are scheduled for 9am Friday with the jurors set to start deliberations thereafter.
