According to the latest numbers, Missouri’s poverty rate has improved for the first time since 2007. The U.S. Census Bureau recently released the numbers which show 15.9 percent of Missourians live below the federal poverty level, which is down from 16.2 percent from the previous year. That means today, there are 16,700 fewer people below the poverty level. However, there are still nearly a million people statewide that are struggling with poverty.
