If you have any expired, unused, or just otherwise unwanted prescription medications around the house that you want to get rid of, you’ll have your chance this weekend. The Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday from 10am until 2pm. Simply take any medications you want to get rid of to one of several area drop-off locations, and authorities there will take them off of your hands and send them to the DEA for disposal. The event not only helps keep drugs out of the hands of people they weren’t intended for, it also helps protect waterways and the environment by reducing the amount of pills flushed into the system. Drop-off points will be at the Camdenton High School and School of the Osage Middle School parking lots, as well as the Morgan County Sheriff’s office on East Newton in Versailles. You can also get rid of medications year-round by taking them to the Camden and Miller County sheriff’s offices and police departments in Eldon, Iberia, Lake Ozark, and Osage Beach.
