A Senate bill seeking to repeal the law relating to the prevailing hourly rate of wages paid for work done on public works appears on today’s informal calendar for perfection Sponsored by Dan Brown, whose district includes Camden County, the bill was voted do-pass in late January by the General Laws Committee. Work being done for, or by, any drainage or levee district would not be included under the repeal. Violations of the new law, if ultimately signed by the governor, would include penalties up to $500 per day and/or up to six months in jail.
