The Camden County Commission met on Thursday to decide the fate on a few projects across the Lake Area, including the property rezoning project for the un-zoned property owned by Gary Prewitt to build a parking lot along with a convenience store and cabins around shady and lazy gators. Presiding Commissioner Kris Franken told KRMS news Thursday afternoon that two of the three motions did pass. Motion one allows the property to be zoned for the first time, now becoming an R-1 zoning across the board. The second motion that passed approved the Planning and Zoning Commission’s decision on the B-1 zoning along with the conditional use permit to allow the parking lot to be built but to only be allowed to be used as parking lot. Motion 3 dealt with the convenience store and cabins Prewitt wants to build. The Commission decided to send this part back to the Planning and Zoning Commission as new testimony that had not yet been seen by P&Z was entered and the Commissioners believed it would be best for them to see it before they make an official decision. Planning and Coning will take a look at the new information at their July 16th meeting and will report their decision back to the commission in their August meeting.
