Here’s a quick rundown of some of the local contested races in tomorrow’s August 3rd primary.
In Camden County three republicans are vying for the 155th district seat, Bernie Mowinski, Joe Roegger, and Diane Franklin. The winner will face democrat John Page. For Associate Circuit Judge Division 3 there are four republicans facing off, David Salee, Gary Smith, Aaron Koeppen and Roger Gibbons. The winner will face incumbent democrat Richelle Christensen in November. Incumbent Bruce Colyer and Ryan Andrew Martin square off for the Associate Circuit Judge seat for Division 4 tomorrow. Scott Martin, Louise Webb, Kristopher Franken and incumbent Carolyn Loraine, all republicans, go for the county presiding commissioner seat. The winner will face Eric Mayer in November. For prosecuting attorney republicans W. Steven Rives and incumbent Brian Keedy will have their race decided tomorrow. Collector of revenue has three republicans, Ron Gentry, Vicki Burns, and Chuck Baker. The winner will face democrat Jacqueline Samuelson in November. And county clerk has two republicans, incumbent Rowland Todd and Kevin Rucker. That winner will face democrat James Hodshon.
Looking at Miller there are only three major issues on the August 3rd primary ballot. Voters will choose a presiding commissioner from two republican candidates, incumbent Tom Wright and James Wilson. Voters will also select one of three republican candidates for Miller County Collector. William Harvey, David Whittle, and Caleb Rowden. The county will also decide whether or not to continue a one-half percent sales tax for capital improvements to county-owned buildings, including the courthouse and jail.
And looking at Morgan County Wanda Brown, Marlin Hammond and Bill Johnson are republicans running for the 116th District Representative seat. One will face democrat Mike Stevenson and constitution party candidate Ray Herron in November. For the state Senator in district 6 race, republicans Harry Otto, Bill Deeken, Kenny Jones and Mike Kehoe face off tomorrow with no challenger in November. And republicans Russell Sharp and Jay Fisher run for presiding commissioner. One will face democrat John Boone in November.
