You’re used to seeing blue lights on the docks around the lake, so you may be wondering why you’re seeing more blue lights on land. It’s part of a tribute to law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. Project Blue Light is promoted annually by the organization “Concerns of Police Survivors.” Colonel Eric Olson of the Missouri Highway Patrol says it’s a way to honor those men and women and show gratitude for all officers, past and present, from all agencies across the state. More than 600 law enforcement officers in Missouri have died in the line of duty. To show your support, you’re encouraged to display blue lights through January 2nd.
