A bill introduced in the state Senate would expand the state’s ban on texting while driving. The proposal requires use of hands-free devices for all ages. Current state law bans texting while driving for those under the age of 22. Senate Bill 15 exempts emergency vehicles. It also allows cell phone use to contact emergency services. Violators would be subject to a $50 fine, which would double if you’re in a school zone or a work zone with workers present.
