A request for an inquiry into the Tri-County Lodging Association appears to be dead in the water for now. The matter was submitted to the Camden County Prosecutor by the County Commission. Prosecutor Heather Miller says her office is not an investigative agency and felt it would be better if the matter were handled by an outside agency in the interest of transparency. She sent it to the Attorney General’s office along with all the accompanying paperwork. After a thorough review, the AG’s office found no evidence of criminal activity and declined to open a formal investigation. The State Auditor’s office also has declined to look into the matter, saying they have no jurisdiction to perform an audit without a petition from each of the contributing counties.
